HACKER SAFE - TESTED DAILY
Polyester Cord & Hemp Cord for Beading & Jewelry Making
Cord products are sold by the yard (about 0.91 meters). Please insert the number of yards desired in the 'Quantity' field. Cord will be sent to you packaged in a neat coil - in a single continuous length.

We do not accept returns of cut products. Please make your selections carefully! If you are not sure of what product you need, order 1 yard and test it before ordering a large quantity! We do accept returns of full spools or hanks (since they are not cut).

Upon updating the website, we separated some items that were previously categorized together. If you were looking for Thread or Stretchable Bead Cord, they are located on their own pages.

Natural Hemp Cord, 4 Color Card, 10 lb. test
Item #: CRD-HCARD

new product Hemp cord is a natural product that is perfect for beading. The cord is very smooth - unlike many "scratchy" hemp cords on the market. It is eco-friendly and looks great when you want an "organic look" in your designs. Cards come with 4 neutral colors: black, dark brown, variegated (multi-tone) and natural. You get 42 feet (12.8 meters) of each color. 10 pound test cord measures about 0.5 to 0.7mm in thickness.

Thin Polyester Cord, 0.8mm, 1 yard
Item #: CRD-P08
Availability:
At 0.8mm, this cord is thin enough to string through many of your favorite Czech Glass beads, larger gemstone beads, most India Glass beads, and many of your favorite precious metal beads. Its great for jewelry, crafts, and for any project that requires a strong, thin cord. The wide array of available colors makes it easy to match your desired color scheme. The cord comes waxed, to keep the ends from fraying while you're assembling your project and helps keep knots tight. The wax will slowly wear off the surface, but the cord is color-fast. Tip: when you've completed your project, you can melt the ends of the cord (use a match or lighter) to prevent fraying.

If you order more than one yard, the cord will be sent to you in one long piece (not cut sections). Occasionally, lengths longer than 30 yards may contain a knot somewhere within the cord (from the manufacturer). We send extra cord in this instance, to allow for needing to work around the knotted location.

Rattail Satin Cord, 1 yard
Item #: CRD-RT1
Availability:
Personally, I think 'Rattail' is a very uncomplimentary name for such a beautiful, smooth, shiny cording product! That is what it is called by the beading industry, however - and we want you to know what you are buying. As shown in the small picture, it is nice for projects such as turning a donut pendant into a simple necklace.

When it is cut, it does fray a bit, so most beading books suggest that you dip the cut end in a bit of fabric glue to minimize this. The cord is about 1.5mm thick (some places refer to this size as #1). This product is sold in custom cut continuous pieces, by the yard (sorry - no returns on cut stock!)

Project Idea - Thin Polyester Cord
Make a bracelet like this one using the cord above. It's a great way to clear out odds & ends in your bead box, plus the only tool you need is a pair of scissors! We used beads from the India Silver Bead page, the Large Seed Bead page (use 6/0 or larger seed beads), and many of our India Glass Bead pages. The faceted beads come from the Czech Faceted Bead page (faceted tubes) and from the Czech "Sophisticated Lady" Mix page. We also used a 10mm Gemstone Round Bead (most 10mm will work on this cord, most smaller gemstone beads will not). You'll also recognize some 8mm Czech Round beads from the Czech Rounds (Druks) page. Knotting techniques used for this project can be found at Using Cord in Jewelry Making Projects - Tips & Techniques.
