These are the semi-precious Lapis Lazuli smooth, faceted, and carved beads we currently have in stock.

Lapis Lazuli is a gemstone that has been used for thousands of years for human adornment - many samples of this beautiful blue stone have been found in Egyptian tombs and in other archeological digs. This gemstone is formed from a number of minerals - important ones being Sulfur (the coloring agent), Calcite (controls how many white inclusions occur in a particular piece) and Pyrite (gives sparkle and depth). "Lazuli" is derived from the same Latin word as "Azure" - hence: Blue Stone.

Lapis Lazuli focal beads have been cut in this very unique wavy shape with a wavy surface cut. Excellent blue color tones, with a fair amount of white or grey inclusions and quite a bit of pyrite, as shown. Overall size is approximately 33x15mm; bead thickness is about 5mm. Drilled holes may be slightly enlarged at opening, as shown. Sold individually.

Beautifully colored Lapis Lazuli has been cut into free form shapes that enhance the natural contours of gemstone. Each piece tends to have 5 to 6 sides and then is flat faceted on the two largest faces. The blue color tones are brightened with well mixed white to grey inclusions and quite a bit of pyrite, as shown. Sizes vary from about 20x17mm to 33x23mm with a hole running the longest direction of the bead. Sold individually.
