"Gem quality" Aragonite (the type used for calibrated and faceted stones) tends to be transparent and faintly green. The type used for beads and donuts is pale yellow and is translucent to somewhat opaque. This is a very soft stone, so handle and store it with care. An interesting fact is that Pearls and Mother of Pearl are made primarily of Aragonite - pearl oysters and mussels utilize this mineral in the production of nacre.
