These are the coated Quartz gemstone components we currently have in stock. Items on this page tend to change, but usually include Aqua Aura and various colors of Mystic coatings.

Aqua Aura is natural, clear quartz that has a permanent transparent, somewhat iridescent blue surface treatment. The exact method is a patented process, but is said to be a combination of heat, pressure and exposure to vaporized pure gold. The gold is permanently bonded to the crystal structure of the quartz, creating the surface color. To read more about this process, see Aqua Aura - Wikipedia Entry.

Another group of coatings for clear natural quartz is grouped under the name "Mystic". They are similar to the Aqua Aura coating process, but use different materials to obtain different colored coatings.

Since these coatings are a surface treatment, care should be taken not to scratch the surface. Quartz used for these items tends to be very clear because material that has flaws, chips or inclusions tends to disintegrate when exposed to the heat & pressure involved in the coating process.
