Amethyst is actually a naturally occurring violet form of quartz. It is usually found in geodes of volcanic rocks. Amethyst prices vary widely based on color (very dark purple to very pale), clarity (inclusions), and cut/shape. When the color is as light as the center picture (donut), we call it "Amethyst Crystal" so that you know you are getting very lightly colored Amethyst.
