Freshwater Teardrop Pearl Beads

Teardrop Pearl Beads are usually made from either Rice or Potato pearls and drilled through the end of the pearl instead of the center. As a result, many times you will see many more pearls per strand than with other pearl beads. If so, you will also see a higher price per strand.

These teardrop pearls vary tremendously in length as you can see in the picture - from 5.5 to 12.5mm! Typically, though, most pearls fall into the middle of that range, so expect many that are about 7-8mm. The pearls are vividly colored jade green and you'll like the nice luster and highlights of pink and olivine. Very occasionally, there will be a pearl on your strand that a flat spot on the bottom tip of the pearl that you may want to cull. Pearl widths are very uniform at about 4.5mm.

White Lollipop Teardrop Pearls

A "lollipop" pearl is a button pearl that has one flat side (the back) and one domed or rounded side (the front). It then is drilled across the widest part of the pearl. This works particularily well when the pearls are drilled a bit to one side, forming a dancing pearl strand because the fronts of the pearls stay facing the front. These lollipops are a slightly creamy white and have very uniform shapes and sizes: 5mm diameter. The luster is also very good.

How Many Teardrop Pearls on a Strand?

It's hard to say because Teardrop pearls are typically drilled at the end and scrunched together on a strand. If you need to the know the number for a specific project, please contact us at info@abeadstore.com

Pearl buying tips:

Freshwater pearls are temporarily strung and sold by the strand. Strands are usually 15.5-16" long (40 cm).

Pearls are a natural product and some styles and colors will be available only in limited amounts. Though we try to buy pearls that can be re-stocked, some styles may not be available again. So, we suggest you purchase all the strands that you need for a particular project at the same time.

Our pearls are priced based on their overall quality. Higher priced pearls will be more consistent in color and shape and have better luster. Small pearls also will be higher in price (more labor to prepare the strands) as will very large pearls (more rare and they take longer to culture).
