Freshwater Stick Pearl Beads
Stick Pearl Beads are almost always long, narrow, flat and drilled through the flat middle part of the pearl. We do offer them as top-drilled and drilled on the long dimension when they are available.

Stick pearls are great for adding contrast and depth to your jewelry designs. You may hear them referred to as Biwa Pearls, but we generally use that term only for long, thin pearls that are less bumpy and more rounded.

These stick pearls are so long and slender, we had to reduce the picture size more than usual to get them to fit on the page layout! The pearls average only about 3mm wide, so you find 120-140 pearls per 16" strand. Due to this very small dimension, you will occasional find a pearl on your strand that has a broken tip or that has broken off the strand. Very good opalescence and luster, 15-27mm lengths.

Pearl buying tips:

Freshwater pearls are temporarily strung and sold by the strand. Strands are usually 15.5-16" long (40 cm).

Pearls are a natural product and some styles and colors will be available only in limited amounts. Though we try to buy pearls that can be re-stocked, some styles may not be available again. So, we suggest you purchase all the strands that you need for a particular project at the same time.

Our pearls are priced based on their overall quality. Higher priced pearls will be more consistent in color and shape and have better luster. Small pearls also will be higher in price (more labor to prepare the strands) as will very large pearls (more rare and they take longer to culture).
