Memory Wire & Liquid Silver Necklace Project |
|
Spruce up the steel color of memory wire by stringing Liquid Silver (or Liquid Gold) on any areas that are not strunq with beads. We used Liquid Silver, available on our Sterling Silver Beads Page - but 1x4 Liquid Twist or 1x4 Liquid Gold will work as well.
Memory Wire and Liquid Silver Necklace Project
For a necklace similar to this one, you will need:
Tools you will need:
Simple Instructions:
- Cut one and one-half loops of Memory wire from your coil using the shears or heavy duty
wire cutters.
- Form a small loop on one end of the memory wire to hold beads in place. It is best to
make the end of the memory wire form an entire circle so that it will be less likely to catch on
anything. Sometimes a flat (non-serrated) pliers is a good tool to close the last little space in the
loop.
- Lay out your bead design so that you know how much space it will take up on the center
of the memory wire coil. When you know about how much space it will take up, you can make a little mark
with a permanent marker on the wire to see how far you need to string the liquid silver. You also can
just 'eyeball' the location - this style of necklace is pretty forgiving about where the center is.
- String the liquid silver from the end of the memory wire to the mark where your design
starts
- String the design
- String the liquid silver on the remaining coil of memory wire, leaving about 3/8" (10mm)
for your ending loop
- Use the round nose pliers to form the ending loop (and close it up as described above).
You're Done! Go get some compliments on your cool new necklace!
