We like to use this thread two strands at a time to bring out the color in your finished Kumihimo braid. The Kumihimo braiding sample in the picture below was made from 2 strands of black Rattail cord and two strands each of 6 colors of metallic thread. The finished cord measures about 3mm, and is finished with a silver plated cap that has an inside measurement of 3.5mm.
